Being asked to choose from among our 2015 list of Taste Test Award Winners is like being asked to choose my favorite lipstick: I just can't do it. It all depends on my snacking mood that day. One thing I do know, however, is that I have a strong snack addiction. Once I pop, it's really hard for me to stop, so I've started seeking out intensely flavored items that slow my snacking roll.

That's precisely where these zingy crisps come in. Seaweed crisps have been popular in the snacking realm for a few years, and honestly, I haven't loved them before. They were almost too thin and flakey for me. But this new snack ups the ante with a thicker, more substantial crisp with kicky gochujang flavor. If you're unfamiliar, gochujang is a Korean fermented chile paste with a miso-like texture. A little more intense on the heat scale than sriracha, but balanced with a great salty sweetness.
These crisps do build to a pretty intense heat level, but they are so satisfying on the flavor spectrum that I found them fascinating. The heat slows down my snacking hand-to-bag-to-mouth-repeat mechanism, but I love that I could eat the whole dang bag for just 160 calories if I wanted to.
